Manga

What are Manga?
Manga are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Many are translated into other languages with majority in English.

REMINDERS BEFORE PURCHASING:
• Manga consist of illustrations which are majority in black and white print.
• Most of the English translated manga are exactly based on its original in terms of its physical size, form, dimension, and design. English translated ones mostly retain the Japanese way of reading from left to right. (back to front.)

COMMON TYPES OF MANGA
• Paperback - These are manga with soft covers either made with standard paper materials or laminated ones.
• Hardcover - These are manga with hard covers but contains the same content as the paperback types.
• Omnibus - These are manga containing multiple volumes in one making it thicker and heavier. This mostly comes in paperback but a hardcover can also be possible for certain titles.
• Limited Edition - These are manga that were published on a limited quantity or for a limited time.
• Collectors' Edition - These are limited edition manga that were made specifically for collectors due to its rarity and usually cost more expensive than other limited edition titles.
• Second Edition - These are reprinted manga usually released with revised/additional contents.
• Perfect Edition - These are reprinted manga usually released with an additional content to complete an unfinished story or provide some clarity on some part/s of the book.
• Reprint - These are manga that were republished with enhancements in details in cover and/or illustration. This likely happens on titles published decades ago or titles being promoted for a certain event.

Light Novels

What are Light Novels?
Light novel is a style of Japanese young adult novel primarily targeting high school and middle school students. Unlike manga, light novels are written in words similar to Western novels with an average length reaching 50,000 words more or less. Light novels are commonly illustrated in a manga art style, and are often adapted into manga and anime.

REMINDERS BEFORE PURCHASING:
• Light novel doesn't have pure illustrations compared to manga but may contain some most likely to introduce the setting, characters and story highlights.
• Most of the English translated light novels are exactly based on its original in terms of its physical size, form, dimension, and design.

Manhwa (Korean Manga)

What are Manhwa?
Manhwa is a term used for comics and print cartoons originated from Korea. The term usually refers to South Korean comics.

REMINDERS BEFORE PURCHASING:
• Manhua is read in the same direction as English books, horizontally and from left to right, the way Koreans normally read. It can also be written and read vertically from right to left, top to bottom the way Webtoons (digital comics) are structured.
• Unlike the Japanese manga, manhwa is in full color when posted on the Internet and mostly in print, but also in monochrome.

Manhua (Chinese Manga)

What are Manhua?
Manhwa are Chinese-language comics produced in China and Taiwan. The term usually refers to Chinese comics.

REMINDERS BEFORE PURCHASING:
• Similarly with manhwa, Manhua is read in the same direction as English books, horizontally and from left to right.
• Unlike the Japanese manga, manhua is illustrated in full color in multiple panel.

Novels

What are Novels?
Novel is a relatively long work of narrative fiction typically written in prose. It consists of considerable length and complexity, portraying characters and usually presenting a sequential organization of action and scenes.

REMINDERS BEFORE PURCHASING:
• Novels are different with light novel as commonly light novels are shorter than the former.
• Stories in novel are usually divided in parts rather than in volumes unlike light novels.

Illustration Books

What are Illustration Books?
Illustration books are compilation of pictures, designs or diagram of a specific title or topic.

REMINDERS BEFORE PURCHASING:
• Illustration books are usually bigger than other types of books ranging from a size of a standard book to a size of an A2 paper.
• Illustration books may come with special contents such as behind the scenes, director's cut and other features made in connection with the series' pre-production.
• It is typical for an illustration book to contain combinations of black and white sketches and full-colored artworks.
